Improving the healthcare industry by connecting patients directly with doctors and creating an

experience.
Access to affordable and convenient healthcare in the U.S. is a significant challenge. In 2021, approximately 27 million people lacked health insurance ([Source](<https://www.census.gov/library/publications/2022/demo/p60-278.html>))
, and an estimated 52 million are underinsured, meaning their plans did not cover local doctor visits ([Source](<https://www.census.gov/library/visualizations/interactive/percentage-without-health-insurance-coverage-by-state-2021-2022.html>))
. With around 700 health insurance companies in the U.S., most doctors only accept between 10 to 20 of them on average, limiting patient options even further.
As a result, many individuals face long wait times, high medical bills, and limited provider availability, forcing them to either delay care or turn to expensive alternatives like emergency rooms for non-life-threatening conditions and creating bottlenecks in the system.
<aside> 💡 Although we normally applied the Lean Startup Methodology of Build, Measure and Learn, me being the full stack designer, I was not confident in this approach since I had alot of industry knowledge gaps and none of us lived in the U.S. to base on some experiences. I advised the founders to dedicate a few extra days to talk to users before rushing into premature prototypes builds.

So we started with Learn, moved to Build and then Measure.
I wanted to go beyond assumptions and gain first hand insights into the real struggles people were facing with their healthcare. To do this, I wrote a few questions and reached out to American citizens on multiple platforms, including Reddit, Fiverr, Craigslist, and Facebook groups with the aim to sit down on a call and have a few conversations. By engaging with a diverse range of individuals, we gathered real user stories, experiences, and pain points.
